Thank you! 30,000 apps created!

Thank you – We are really proud to announce this week that we are celebrating our 30,000th free app created with WordApp.

This venture has been amazing for us. So, we were thinking of a way to celebrate, other than going to the pub for a drink.  So we decided that a great way to celebrate would be to host a giveaway!

We wanted something useful for everyone with a mobile app or looking to build an app.

Here’s what we are going to give away :

  • 1 copy of WordApp Gold mobile app for life.
  • 1 full marketing pack for your app including (banner, stickers, NFC, & car stickers).
  • 10 window stickers for your app & 3 NFC packs.

We are really proud of WordApp. Started a little less than 6 months ago, by a small group of WordPress & mobile geeks. We have come a long way since then and are getting closer and closer to our aim of the best mobile app builder in the world.

A very big thank you

WordApp Update 1.16 lennox

WordApp 1.16 is finally here!

After several months of hard work and debugging (thanks to our amazing community), WordApp 1.16 is finally here. Full of new features and bug fixes this version is truly an improvement on 1.15.

You can download the new update here : https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordapp-mobile-app/

Here are some of the new features and fixes :

• More themes.
–  Ten new themes for your app.
• A big decrease in size
 – One of our biggest complaints about WordApp was it’s size. Weighing in at over 46MB many servers were just simply refusing to install it causing all sorts of frustration.
Now WordApp 1.2 is less than 7MB and can pretty much be installed on any server.

•  Splash screen fixed
 – Android never had a default splash screen or loading message when you launched the app you were greeted with a white screen whilst the app launched. Not no more… You have a beautiful splash screen which fades out into the background once the app ist loaded. Neat!
• Faster speed between pages
• Loading messages between loads

Some awesome new add-ons :

  • QR Code reader
  • Geo-Fenced push notifications
  • Native Share facebook, twitter, email etc..

Our new help section is here.

After trying several help desks and gmail to provide support for you. We have finally decided to use Zendesk to give you the best possible help section & support.
OK it isn’t perfect yet but we are adding daily content & it’s a darn site better than before :).

Keeping in with the tradition of WordPress

like other software, apps & plugins we decided to give our release a name. WordPress name their releases after great jazz men & women, OS X named releases after distinct California landmarks. So, after much debate we decided to name our releases after great boxers from around the world.

WordApp 1.16 will be referred to WordApp Lennox named after Lennox Lewis. Lennox Lewis is regarded by many as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time, and also as the greatest British fighter of all time.

You can read more about Lennox here : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lennox_Lewis

David Reichelt from Color Switch interviewed by Carter Thomas

Color Switch is addictive and I just can’t get passed that level!! Despite that, I can’t stop playing. I heard the story about the guy who created the game on several sites and seen him on TV. The game’s creator, David Reichelt, is actually colorblind, which is hard to believe if you’ve played even one level of the game.

I have been a member of Carter Thomas’s community for a while now. Carter posted this interview with David Reichelt. David Reichelt is the creator of Color Switch the #1 game worldwide in the App Store. He explains his journey from almost broke to a mobile app rockstar. A real success story and is well worth the listen.

Carter Thomas runs a Facebook group and an amazing mobile gaming course and this was an amazing interview very inspiring. Great job Carter and David!

Why Your Spa Needs a Mobile App

As a spa owner, you’ve worked hard to create a comfortable, clean, and relaxing environment for your clients. Spas are the perfect place to get away from the day to day stress of life, but running a spa is far from relaxing. Scheduling, supplies, cleaning, and maintenance can cause headaches for even the most experienced spa owners, but with a mobile app for your spa, you can control the chaos and let technology help you!

With a mobile app for your spa, you can use a shared calendar for your client’s appointments, manage your maintenance and inventory, and send push notifications to your clients reminding them about upcoming appointments and specials. If you own a spa and want to create a mobile app to help you take care of your business operations, you may be worried about costs. Using a WordPress plugin to create a mobile app is an easy and extremely affordable way to bring technology to your spa.

Pricing

Due to the easily customizable nature of your spa services, pricing may not be black and white. If you want to be able to create custom spa days and easily bill your customers. You can even accept payments with the mobile app for your spa, making payment easier for your clients.

Scheduling

For spas and salons, scheduling is one of the most important aspects of daily operations. Not only do you need to know how to staff appropriately for the day, but your schedule is also always changing. Customers will call in to reschedule, drop by for a walk in, or call to see when their favorite masseur is available next. With an unorganized scheduling system, your spa can turn into a real catastrophe quick, but if you create a mobile app capable of scheduling and calendar services, you’ll be able to stay on top of your schedule with no problems.

Maintenance

For spas, cleanliness is next to godliness. If a customer comes in to get a massage in a dirty room, that’s not going to allow them to relax and enjoy your services. However, with rooms being used all the time, it can be hard to keep track of what needs to be cleaned or services and when. With a mobile app, you can easily let your maintenance crew know what the schedule for the day looks like so they can service each room when needed. You can also create a maintenance ticketing system in your app to let your crew know when a room needs more candles or a door knob is loose.

Custom Features

If you create a mobile app with a WordPress plugin, the sky’s the limit on what your app can do for you and your business. You can add the features your clients want to see, like loyalty programs, friend referral programs, easy scheduling, payment, and more. You can also schedule push notifications for customers with upcoming appointments or to notify your clients of a special you’re running.

Many industries are taking full advantage of the mobile app boom, and the spa and salon sector is no different. If you own a spa and want to create a mobile app, WordPress plugins like WordApp allow you to create a customizable app without blowing your marketing budget on high app development costs. You can have a mobile app for your customers in no time!

What are push notifications?

Most mobile users get dozens of phone notifications a day. Some come from friends and family saying hello via text, and some are from the apps they use on their devices; however, many users don’t understand the difference between standard notifications and mobile push notifications. Although they serve the same purpose, to notify you that someone is trying to reach you, they do differ significantly if you’re a mobile app creator.

Marketing Communication

If you’re a business or blogger, you know there are many ways to reach your readers and customers. You can email, call, or use your social media to reach them. If they agree, you can even send them text messages about your latest sales or posts. However, if you create a mobile app, you have a fantastic opportunity to communicate with your audience mobile push notifications.

Aren’t Texts Better?

You may think the best way to reach your audience is via text. After all, doesn’t everyone check their text messages? It’s always exciting to get a text from someone, right? Unfortunately, not everyone is thrilled to get a text from a business. First, they might not have unlimited text messaging, which means you’re costing them money. It can also become increasingly annoying for customers to continue to receive text messages from you, altering their opinion of your business.

Mobile push notifications, on the other hand, are a part of your mobile app. If a customer or reader downloads your app, they are probably really interested in receiving updates from you. These notifications also allow your customers to press the notification and go straight to your app, making it easier for them to access your new blog or check out your latest special.

Costs

Much like consumer text messaging plans, business plans cost money. At the volume businesses send marketing texts, it can become very expensive to market to your customers this way. When you use a WordPress plugin to create your mobile app, you can ditch that large mobile plan and send your push notifications for free. Notifications cost nothing for you to send, greatly freeing up your marketing budget for other great projects.

Opting Out

Unfortunately, some of your users may not enjoy your push notifications. The good news is mobile apps make it easy for your users to easily change their notification settings while still keeping your app on their phone. This means even though you’re not sending them messages, they will still be able to go to your app for the latest information and notifications. With text messages, your customers will opt out and never hear from you again!

If you’ve used a WordPress plugin like WordApp to create a mobile app, you have a great way to interact with your customers built right in! Now, you don’t have to worry about large mobile plans, simply send your clients information via mobile push notification!

app store optimization

App Store Optimization Tips to Get Your App Noticed

If you’ve recently used a WordPress plugin like WordApp to create a mobile app for your blog or business, you’re ready to start selling your app to your readers; however, this isn’t as easy as putting your app on the Google Play or Apple App stores. There are hundreds of thousands of apps fighting for your reader’s attention, and you need to be proactive if you want to see any download activity. Strategies such as app store optimization can help your app get noticed by using keywords and phrases similar to search engine optimization. Using app SEO can help you get more attention for your mobile app.

app store

Names Go A Long Way

We all know how important first impressions are. The name of your app is the first thing people will see, so the app’s name should reflect the purpose in a catchy way while still being relevant and unique. Avoid using special characters since some app stores won’t display special characters and this may cause your app’s name to look strange. A creative name could be enough to get a download, and a bad name could cause users to turn to a competitor, so make sure you spend ample time choosing the best name for your mobile app.

Keywords

Keywords are by and large the most important element to your app store optimization. These keywords help customers find you using relevant search terms. These keywords should be related to your brand, and you can even use your website’s keywords for your app store SEO. To find the best keywords for your app, think of what phrases your potential clients will use to find an app like yours. From there, you can come up with a list of great keywords to use for your app store optimization.

Rock Your Description

Now that you have your keyword list, where should you put all those great search terms? In your description, of course! Not only should the description tell your readers what your app does and why they should use it, it is also a great way to get some keywords into your content so they will be picked up by the app store’s search. It is important, however, that you integrate them as naturally as possible. If your description is too stuffed with keywords, it will be hard to read and won’t give your potential customers the information they’re looking for.

Pictures Attract Downloads

The picture or logo you select for your app can be extremely helpful when attracting attention from new clients. Most people will tell you they don’t judge a book by its cover, but if your logo isn’t great or competitor has a nicer one, you could lose a customer that way. If you’re not great at creating logos, you may need to hire a graphic designer to help you create something that will attract attention.

Flaunt Your Reviews

Most app store users will read a full page of reviews or more before deciding to download your app. Your reviews are extremely important to your app store optimization. Not only can users filter their results by rating, but bad reviews could turn your potential customer to a competitor. If you’re getting reviews pointing out issues with your app, make sure you fix them as soon as possible. You should also respond to any reviews that are either extremely good or bad. This level of communication will further attract customers to your app.

If you’ve used a great WordPress plugin like WordApp to create a mobile app for your business, now’s the time to focus on app store SEO and bring in the downloads! With app store optimization, you can easily get your app noticed and bring in more customers.

Why Your Restaurant Needs a Mobile App?

In the current restaurant market, mobile apps are quickly becoming a must-have for every business. If you own a restaurant, you know how frustrating it can be to keep your customer attendance steady. Business volume varies not only from season to season, but even by the hour. Fortunately, if you create a mobile app, you can use it to control some of the most difficult aspects about your restaurant, including ordering, billing, and tracking customer trends.

The Price of Apps

While mobile apps are a fantastic way to streamline your operations, mobile app development can be incredibly costly. App developers charge high rates for their services and creating a mobile app takes several months, meaning you’ll be paying a small fortune for development. Luckily, the WordApp WordPress plugin allows you to create a mobile app yourself, saving you thousands. This mobile app builder is completely customizable, so you can change your theme, menus, and other functions without needing the help of a high cost developer.

The Benefits of Your App

Now that you know you don’t have to spend a fortune to create a mobile app if you use options like a WordPress plugin, you may be wondering what benefits a mobile app will have for your business and your customers.

  • Reservations: You probably already have a system which allows your customers to make reservations on your website. However, your customers probably have access to their phone more than their computers. Allowing them to make reservations with your app is much easier and more accessible for your diners.
  • Online Ordering: This standard restaurant feature is quickly moving into the mobile sphere. As mentioned earlier, your customers are almost always near their phones, and being able to order straight from your app is a huge convenience for busy people needing to grab dinner on their way home.
  • Engagement: One of the best things about mobile apps is the ability to send notifications directly to your customers on their phones. People tend to ignore promotional emails, and social media only works when your customers log on and see your posts. With mobile apps, the notifications not only go directly to their phones, they also open your app, allowing your customers to order your newest dish or check out your specials.
  • Information: Sometimes, your diners just need to get some general information about your business. If they are lost en route to your restaurant, an embedded map can be a great tool to help them find you. They may also just want to check out your menu or hours. Although they can look this up online, having a mobile app helps them find your information easily, and while they are in your app they can go ahead and make a reservation.

Mobile apps are quickly becoming a must-have for any business, especially restaurants. Having a well-developed mobile app makes reservations, to-go orders, and promotions extremely easy for your busy restaurant. Luckily, with WordPress plugins, you don’t have to worry about the high prices of app developers. WordApp can help you create a custom mobile app for your business and customers!

Marketing your mobile app

The Benefits of Market Your WordApp Mobile App to Your Clients

If you have a brand new WordApp mobile app on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, you can’t depend on your customers to look you up and download your app. Marketing your app will bring in extra revenue for your business or blog, but you’ll have to do some leg work if you want to see steady downloads. Of course, if you don’t have much experience marketing a mobile app, you may not know where to begin. Continue Reading

Create an app for your restaurant

Create an app for your restaurant

It’s pretty mortifying when you forget to eat a thorough breakfast and your stomach ends up making noises that sound like a whale’s cry, breaking the pin-drop silent atmosphere while you’re at work or in class.

Instead of picking up your phone to scroll through pictures of food, don’t you think it would be a better idea to use an app to actually get some food?

If you create a mobile application for your restaurant, you will be able to cater (no pun intended) to this problem that the public faces.

You will be able to develop marketing channels, increase customers and more without spending a fortune.

So, what features should your app have?

Loyalty services

With this feature, there will be no need for customers to need to dig through their wallets for discount cards. Instead, they’ll be able to use their phones to get special deals!
The restaurant will also not need to physically keep track of such things, as it will all be done via phones.

With the use of some sort of code, the enterprise can record a certain purchase, and the customer will be notified when they have spent enough to receive loyalty services.

Send notifications

These can help you easily update customers on deals and news about your restaurant. Just post short, eye-catching statuses about the restaurant and these will appear on the customers’ smartphones.
Coupons by location tracking

Once upon a time, people were employed to go on the streets and advertise. Now, however, you can use your application to inform all customers within a certain range about any offers or special events so that they can come by.

In addition to this, your customers will be able to ‘check in’ when they are at the restaurant, which attracts more people. You can offer rewards for customers that check in to promote your restaurant even more.

Digital menu

Having a menu on one’s smartphone is a huge plus. You can sit at home and decide what to ask your friend to bring for you without them having to describe the entire menu over a phone call.
This, in turn, will increase your customers due to the ease of ordering.

Ordering food on your app

To end sudden bouts of hunger, customers should be able to order and pay directly from the app.
In-app ordering should allow customers to immediately place an order that will be sent to the kitchen, and should also provide an ‘order history’ to make it easy to re-order things customers may have previously gotten.

Reserving tables

Customers should be able easily to reserve seats with their app. Knowing that they won’t have to spend hours waiting for a table will definitely encourage more people to come to your restaurant.

Communicate

Lastly, use the application to gain internet fame by asking customers to make a referral to their social media accounts about how they liked your business.

In addition to that, customers should be able to call the business through the app for questions or comments, and the app should also be able to synchronize with the mobile phone to provide directions to the restaurant, if necessary.

All in all, in this age of technology, an app for your business is a must. If you want your restaurant to flourish, spend some time creating a state of the art application with all the features listed above, and you will rise way above competitors.

Go and get started!
